Will sales tax Measure X make it on the ballot?

Walnut Creek Chamber Back To Business Webinar - Down to the Wire: Will sales tax Measure X make it on the ballot?
Tuesday, September 1, 9:00 - 10:00AM, Register below.

Guests:
Supervisor Karen Mitchoff, Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors
Susan Pricco, President - Contra Costa Taxpayers Association
Michael Arata, Alliance of Contra Costa Taxpayers

Contra Costa County supervisors voted to place a sales tax measure (Measure X) on the November ballot contingent on the passage of state Senate Bill 1349, drafted by
Sen. Steve Glazer, which would authorize Contra Costa County specifically to impose a transactions and use tax of up to a half-cent for general or specific purposes to support countywide programs. Measure X appears to be headed toward the November ballot placing the decision in the hands of the voters.

The Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau will kick off the political season by presenting this topic as part of our Back to Business series. Join us this Tuesday, September 1, to hear speakers on both sides of Measure X.  Ask your questions via the Zoom chat feature or submit them in advance by emailing wcchamberca@gmail.com.

Wildfire Preparedness and Property Insurance Virt. Town Hall

Assemblymember, District 16 Rebecca Bauer-Kahan hosts Wildfire Preparedness and Property Insurance Virtual Town Hall
Friday, September 11, 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM, Register below.

Wildfire season is here. We are already seeing extremely destructive fires both here in our district and across the state. While our local fire agencies and communities have done an incredible amount of work to prepare for this fire season, I often hear from property owners about the difficulties they face with the non-renewal of their home insurance policies because they live near a recent wildfire, or reside in an area that is considered high-risk. My office has been working diligently to address these concerns.

To that end, I hope that you will join us for a Wildfire Preparedness + Property Insurance Virtual Town Hall in partnership with California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara and the Orinda Firewise Council. We will discuss how homeowners can take steps to lower wildfire risk, navigate insurance issues and share helpful resources. We will also hear from State Fire Marshall Chief Mike Richwine, Amy Bach, Executive Director of United Policyholders, and experts from the Department of Insurance to help answer all your questions. Please email your questions in advance, no later...  More >>

“We are very impressed with your Chamber. We have been members of other Chambers over the years and it’s been nothing like the experiences we’re having right out of the gate with your organization. Thank you for your great communication, follow up, and professionalism.”
– Peter Dewey, Bayview Painting

“I couldn’t have asked for a better resource than the Chamber, as I was establishing my medical practice in Lafayette. AJ, Holly, and Sara were so responsive to my questions and gave me many ideas on networking in the community. They host several events that foster community building. I honestly cannot imagine a more robust, active, and friendly chamber as this. I’m a member for life!”
– Cheruba Prabakar, Lamorinda Gynecology & Surgery

“WE LOVE THE CHAMBER! Batch and Brine has been a member of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce for almost six years. We value and appreciate the incredible amount of work this organization produces for our community through many events and support for each business. The networking and education of information that’s spilled out weekly for the business community is impressive. They are a helping hand in so many ways for our business community and beyond. We couldn’t be part of this community without being part of the chamber. Lafayette Chamber is one of the best organizations we’ve worked with, so don’t think twice about it, join the Chamber!” – Rolla Ghaben, Batch & Brine

“The Chamber was instrumental in helping us open 14 years ago. The staff went out of their way to help us make connections and ensure we were successful. We would not be where we are today without the Chamber!”
– John & Colleen McCormick, Lamorinda Music
