Dress Up Drive

Dress Up Drive
In place of trick-or-treating during the COVID-19 pandemic, participate in this community-wide, socially distant Halloween celebration! Put on your costumes, dress up your house or business, and/or dress up your car with Halloween decorations. Whether you enjoy from the comfort of your haunted house/business or drive around town in your wicked wagons, come see the all-out, over-the-top spooktacular decorations this year all around Lafayette.

Music, lights, fog machines ... this is your year to go all out!

We encourage decorations to go up in the weeks prior to Halloween. But be ready for the official town tour the evening of October 31st.  Register your house/business to be featured on our online map by 10/23. The map will be posted the week of October 26th.

Please remember that this is a COVID-19 friendly, bring your own candy event. So please do not pass out candy, remain in your car/yard and maintain physical distance at all times. Obey all traffic laws & be aware of your surroundings.

Lafayette Virtual Evacuation Drill

The Virtual Evacuation Drill that was postponed last month due to the wildfires, will take place Saturday, September 26, starting at 7:30 a.m. Utilizing the Community Warning System (CWS), the Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Emergency Preparedness Commission, Lamorinda CERT, and Con Fire will be conducting a virtual evacuation drill throughout the City of Lafayette this Saturday.

The City has an Evacuation Plan that has divided the City into different geographical zones. In a real emergency, evacuation orders will be issued for specific geographical zones and will only be issued when there is extreme danger to an area. Residents should evacuate immediately. The September 26 exercise begins at 7:30 a.m. and involves a virtual fire that ignites and begins to spread into Lafayette. Based upon the computer- generated fire model, virtual evacuation orders will be issued to geographic zones that are threatened by the virtual fire.

As with a real emergency, all evacuation orders are issued via the Community Warning System (CWS). CWS is the only source for this information. Nixle will not be used for evacuation messages but may be used to provide other information. You should subscribe to both services. Have discussions with your family about what to do...  More >>

Lafayette Homeowners Council (LHC): Candidates Night

The Lafayette Homeowners Council (LHC) Board of Directors, in conjunction with the coming November election, invites you to attend what our Board considers to be one of the most important programs that we are fortunate to be able to bring to you – our Candidates Night.

This particular Candidates Night will, as usual, focus on our local contested elections but, in order to do justice to all of the candidates for the three Boards on which we believe that Lafayette residents most often focus, there will be two Candidates Nights, rather than just one. These events also include Q and A sessions.

These two Candidates Nights will be presented over two meetings.  These will be ZOOM type webinar meetings, brought to you in your own home.  The first, on October 1, starts at 7:00 p.m., with presentations from the four candidates for the three open Lafayette City Council seats:  Cam Burks, Carl Anduri, Gina Dawson and Farschad Farsan.

The second Candidates Night will be in two parts, conducted in succession, on Tuesday, October 6.  We will start the first part of the meeting at 7 p.m., with presentations by the four candidates for the two contested seats for the Governing...  More >>
