Lafayette Res Run for Education

The Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lafayette are co-sponsors of the Lafayette Res Run for Education which is traditionally held on a Sunday in October. Beneficiaries of the event are the local schools and the services and programs of the Chamber. The Run is the city’s most popular “family affair”, involving kids, parents, grandparents, and hundreds of serious runners from throughout the Bay Area.

Participants compete in a 10k or 5k certified runs and a 2 mile run/walk for fun through downtown Lafayette, around the reservoir (10k only) and back. Sprinters, walkers, the “stroller brigade” and many of Lafayette’s top four legged residents share the streets on that festive Sunday morning. 40th Annual Community Thanksgiving Breakfast

The 40th Annual Community Thanksgiving Breakfast will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

We invite everyone - politicos, non-profits, school representatives, business leaders, community leaders, Rotarians, our Chamber members, etc. to all come together to share in a breakfast and enjoy our speaker, Donna Wright Sommerville, co-founder of Grateful Gatherings.

Grateful Gatherings began in 2013 when Donna and her family saw a 10-year-old named Ayisha on the local news talking about being homeless during the holidays. Donna connected with the family and delivered Christmas dinner and presents. A few months later, Ayisha’s family was placed in a new apartment but had nothing to furnish their new home… nothing! Donna emailed 20 friends; within four days, Ayisha’s family had enough furniture and household items to set up their new home and new life.

Donna, our keynote speaker, will present "Furnishing Homes with Hope". Event starts at 7am and ends by 8:30am. Pastor Dan Senter from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will provide the Invocation and Rev. Robin Wells from the Lafayette United Methodist Church will do the Benediction at the end of the breakfast.

Cost is $25 per person. No tickets will be sold at the door.

It's a Wonderful Life in Lafayette

Join us for “It’s a Wonderful Life in Lafayette” Holiday Celebration on December 7, 2018 from 4:00-6:30pm at Lafayette’s Plaza Park, located in downtown Lafayette.

Free admission! Fun, family-friendly celebration –  tree lighting, live music, community sing-a-long, crafts — and this Santa’s “sleigh” is Lafayette’s historic fire truck, Old Betsy!

Arrive early and plan to stay! This fun and festive event includes visits with Santa, official holiday tree lighting ceremony, one-of-a-kind photo ops with the Town Hall Elves, live musical entertainment, crafts, holiday treats and a holiday sing-a-long.

Festivities begin at 4 p.m. Santa is scheduled to parade along Golden Gate Way on Lafayette’s treasured Old Betsy fire engine, along with a police escort. This caravan will start from the Lafayette Historical Society and arrive at Lafayette Plaza Park at 4:30 p.m. A must-not-miss for the little ones!

Throughout the event there will be activities for the kids, light refreshments and lots of photo opportunities, including posing with Santa and Old Betsy and the Town Hall Elves. Where else can someone take such a fun holiday photo?

There will also be live entertainment throughout the event, including local student musicians and singers.

Already a popular Lafayette holiday tradition, the “It’s a Wonderful Life in Lafayette” holiday event is designed as a time to share holiday cheer as we celebrate this wonderful community we live in. This includes enjoying the beautiful holiday drawings created by Lafayette’s many 3rd graders that will be exhibited at the event.

The “It’s a Wonderful Life in Lafayette” event is presented by the Lafayette Chamber, and sponsored by local Lafayette Realtor The Dana Green Team and Branagh Development, who together are also hosting the environmentally-friendly downtown Lafayette twinkle lights for the 2018 Holiday Season.

“We are very impressed with your Chamber. We have been members of other Chambers over the years and it’s been nothing like the experiences we’re having right out of the gate with your organization. Thank you for your great communication, follow up, and professionalism.”
– Peter Dewey, Bayview Painting

“I couldn’t have asked for a better resource than the Chamber, as I was establishing my medical practice in Lafayette. AJ, Holly, and Sara were so responsive to my questions and gave me many ideas on networking in the community. They host several events that foster community building. I honestly cannot imagine a more robust, active, and friendly chamber as this. I’m a member for life!”
– Cheruba Prabakar, Lamorinda Gynecology & Surgery

“WE LOVE THE CHAMBER! Batch and Brine has been a member of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce for almost six years. We value and appreciate the incredible amount of work this organization produces for our community through many events and support for each business. The networking and education of information that’s spilled out weekly for the business community is impressive. They are a helping hand in so many ways for our business community and beyond. We couldn’t be part of this community without being part of the chamber. Lafayette Chamber is one of the best organizations we’ve worked with, so don’t think twice about it, join the Chamber!” – Rolla Ghaben, Batch & Brine

“The Chamber was instrumental in helping us open 14 years ago. The staff went out of their way to help us make connections and ensure we were successful. We would not be where we are today without the Chamber!”
– John & Colleen McCormick, Lamorinda Music
