California Independent Film Festival Returns to Historic Orinda Theater

Orinda, Cali, July 25th, 2019 - Next month sees the return of the fabulous California Independent Film Festival to the charming and historic Orinda Theater, in the heart of downtown Orinda.  This one-of-a-kind week long event (August 23rd - 31st) celebrates independent filmmakers from around the globe, and a new generation of amazing talent. Dramas, comedies, documentaries, musicals, screenplays, thrillers, shorts and animated films will all be showcased within the glamorous aesthetics of old world Hollywood that is the Orinda Theater.

The opening headliner of the Festival is “7 Days to Vegas.” If you liked “Molly’s Game” you will love this!  You can watch the trailer here.  And, you don’t need to be a gambling enthusiast to appreciate the humor, originality and plot twists.  Kick off your Festival experience at the August 23rd Opening Night with a glass of wine in the lobby of the Orinda Theater, and continue on into the charming theater to experience this soon-to-be blockbuster.  The not-to-be-missed After-Party is at Cine Cuvee right next door.

All the films are truly worthy of a passionate write-up, so the schedule and descriptions can be found here.  However, one more truly mentionable is “Making a Deal with the Devil” - a fascinating and dramatic tale of a behind-the-scenes plot developed by the FBI as they work secretly with the mob to eradicate corruption and crime in the USA.  Starring Danny Aiello, John Ashton, Tom Bower, Daniel Baldwin and Michael Pare, “Making a Deal with the Devil” was written, directed and produced by Frank D’Angelo.

Other very noteworthy dates are as follows: August 25th showcases our local young filmmakers - eighteen Lamorinda students (part of the Lamorinda ShortDocs) will have their terrific and diverse films shown, August 26th focuses on Bay Area film-makers, and August 28th highlights female directors with topics ranging from 80’s disco hopping, a lesson in racial profiling, and female versus male sexuality.

Bring your family and friends, and join your fellow Lamorindans and the community during this phenomenal week of exceptional entertainment.  Check out the schedule and purchase your tickets here.  For more information, go to https://www.caiff.org/tickets or contact Tania Sheppard at taniasheppard10@gmail.com or (480) 390-1342 if you have any questions.

“We are very impressed with your Chamber. We have been members of other Chambers over the years and it’s been nothing like the experiences we’re having right out of the gate with your organization. Thank you for your great communication, follow up, and professionalism.”
– Peter Dewey, Bayview Painting

“I couldn’t have asked for a better resource than the Chamber, as I was establishing my medical practice in Lafayette. AJ, Holly, and Sara were so responsive to my questions and gave me many ideas on networking in the community. They host several events that foster community building. I honestly cannot imagine a more robust, active, and friendly chamber as this. I’m a member for life!”
– Cheruba Prabakar, Lamorinda Gynecology & Surgery

“WE LOVE THE CHAMBER! Batch and Brine has been a member of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce for almost six years. We value and appreciate the incredible amount of work this organization produces for our community through many events and support for each business. The networking and education of information that’s spilled out weekly for the business community is impressive. They are a helping hand in so many ways for our business community and beyond. We couldn’t be part of this community without being part of the chamber. Lafayette Chamber is one of the best organizations we’ve worked with, so don’t think twice about it, join the Chamber!” – Rolla Ghaben, Batch & Brine

“The Chamber was instrumental in helping us open 14 years ago. The staff went out of their way to help us make connections and ensure we were successful. We would not be where we are today without the Chamber!”
– John & Colleen McCormick, Lamorinda Music
